WELCOME to our favorite place on Earth: the Florida Keys. Although our sunny days are preferably spent soaring the skies, we can’t pass up the opportunity to geek out about the laid-back charm and tropical allure of the Florida Keys in the summer, from the ground.
In this article, we’ll immerse ourselves in all things summer: the best things about summer in the Keys, what to wear skydiving in summer, and why Key West in the summer is THE place to be.
Skydiving In The Summer: How Does It Work?
First things first (and most importantly), skydiving! Skydiving in the summer is fabulous: cool, refreshing breeze, adrenaline, and memory-making … what’s better? Dressing for skydiving in the summer is pretty simple – wear what you’re comfortable in! Remember, the higher we go, the cooler it gets, but in the summer that temperature difference is a refreshing change.
What Is So Special About The Florida Keys?
Why do tourists visit the Florida Keys? Our little slice of island paradise is special for many reasons. We have the sun-kissed shores, laid-back vibes, famous culinary delights, quirky charm, and don’t even get us started on the vibrant marine life and crystal clear waters! For some, visiting the Florida Keys is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as is skydiving – it’s the ultimate combination.
What Are The Florida Keys Like In Summer?
We are well aware that we are incredibly fortunate to call these sandy beaches our home. Want the scoop on vacationing in paradise? We’ve got you covered. The best thing about summer is …
The weather.
Envision Mother Nature throwing us a year-round beach party – that’s the summer weather in the Keys. Sure, the sun cranks up the heat in the summer; big whoop! If you channel your inner Conch (that’s the term for “local” down here), you’ll see the warmth of the sun as a big embrace from nature. Plus, the extra radiance just makes the drinks that much more refreshing!
If the heat still isn’t your thing, then the Florida Keys evenings are your silver lining. Imagine lounging beneath the swaying pines, the balminess cut with a cool breeze, toes dipped in the Gulf (or Atlantic!) … pure bliss!
Underwater cities.
Our friends beneath the surface of the water are there year round, but there’s something special about spending time with them in the summer months, when the sunshine’s a little brighter and the water is a hint more blue. With vibrant coral reefs, mysterious statues from long ago, and world-class boating tours, the Keys offer some of the best underwater experiences in the world. Whether you’re scuba diving, snorkeling, or just taking a dip in our crystal clear waters, the beauty of the aquamarine is abundant.
The sunsets.
One of nature’s most breathtaking performances is the sunset. A Florida Keys sunset is like a regular sunset but even more magical, trust us. In a mesmerizing blend of oranges, pinks, and purples, the horizon is set ablaze as golden hour commences. Many families, partners, and friends take this opportunity to take photos – capturing a split second in time to last forever.
But as we all know by now, the beauty of a sunset isn’t just skin-deep. Similar to skydiving, which is a soul-stirring experience, sunsets too can rejuvenate the spirit and truly ignite us with a sense of wonder and community. What’s more special than getting off our phones and away from the hustle and bustle, taking a moment to be intentional, and experiencing the sun dipping below the shimmering water with others? It’s unifying! Whether you choose to experience a sunset from the sandy shores of Key West, at the nightly sunset celebration in Mallory Square, or the skies (with us!), you’re sure to feel the warmth in your bones, a sense of peace, and renewed energy. This energy will carry you into the nightlife of the Keys … let’s go!
Fresh seafood.
If we could coin the cuisine in the Keys with four words it would be: local flavors, global influences. We boast a vibrant culinary scene with lots of influence from Cuba and the Caribbean – jerk chicken, conch fritters, and crispy empanadas are favorites.
How is the selection of fresh seafood so abundant in the Keys? We have an unmatched geographic location: we’re nestled right between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf! While there is a myriad of options for everyone, the Keys are a seafood-lovers paradise. The ocean-to-table freshness cannot be beat. Fishermen rise with the sun, cast their nets, and bring restaurants the freshest mahi-mahi, grouper, shrimp, swordfish, and lobster. Imagine it: a melt-in-your-mouth piece of lobster drenched in the Keys’ famous citrus butter – our mouths are watering!
Live music.
The Keys’ music scene is as diverse as they come – you can find any rhythm to match your mood. From chill, beachy acoustics and soulful jazz to eclectic reggae mixes (which show off our melting pot culture), you’ll be able to find something for everyone. Here in Key West (it’s our favorite Key for obvious reasons), Duval Street has legendary venues and jams ranging from rock ‘n roll to blues and salsa. An ice cold mojito, live music, and dancing after an afternoon of jumping is our perfect summer day!
THE VIBES.
Everything mentioned above culminates into one thing: the vibes. The Keys have a truly irresistible allure that beckons travelers from all around the globe! The atmosphere has an undeniable sense of freedom and relaxation that literally permeates the salty air. Where time slows down, the sense of community is overwhelming, and there’s something new to discover around every corner, the Florida Keys are simply where it’s at!
The Florida Keys in the summer is an absolute dream – a taste of the good life! Soar with us to exhilarating heights, bask in the glow of a sunset, savor some drool-worthy seafood, and dance the night away. Come join us in paradise!
