A Florida Keys native and our resident fisherman, Marcus grew up around skydiving. And it’s not a stretch to say he has skydiving in his blood: “My brother and sister-in-law were both skydiving instructors, so it wasn’t far-fetched I would head in that direction. I was at the drop zone at 8:00 a.m. on my 18th birthday. As soon as I was legally able to jump out of an airplane, I was there.”
Though he’s been jumping for years and has taken thousands of students, Marcus’s favorite skydiving memory is of his mom: “When my mother did her first and only skydive, it was a family event. My brother took her on the tandem, and my sister-in-law and I joined them in freefall. It’s the only time I ever saw my brother nervous!”
Marcus’s advice to a first-timer: “Fear is temporary. You got this.”
